Cairns - the new GO TO place in Queensland

IMAGINE LIVING AND WORKING HERE!

Apart from the laid back lifestyle of North Queensland, the cafe culture of Cairns promenade, the fantastic food and not to mention the close proximity of The Great Barrier Reef, Cairns has an abundance of awesome beaches, such as Ellis Beach (above).

As well as the beaches, there are also some absoute gems to be found within an hour of Cairns, one of which is the tourist village of Kuranda, accessed by train (allowing views back to the city below).

An alternative is to travel via Skyrail, a treetop trimming ride that has to be experienced to believe. (below). From high atop the hills of Kuranda, this breathtaking ride take you across the tree tops, providing some excellent views - not least being a breathtaking panorama above Baron Gorge - which alone makes the trip well worth the money.

Lots of opportunities for sailing from Cairns with a marina and yacht club both within an easy walk of the city centre. Day trips to Green Island (part of the Great Barrier Reef) are a regular feature of the Cairns experience.

There is a wide range of property on the market in Cairns, and tropical High Rise homes are an affordable and unique place to settle down in the state's north.

Cairns is well serviced by a National and International airport, national railway station, good road links and both private and public hospitals. (Both of which are currently recruiting Nurses, General Practitioners and Specialists). Urgently required are Midwives and Scrub/Scout nurses as well as GPs and Specialists. Sonographers are in particular demand.

Australia - Happiest place in the world to live - OECD

I Love a Sunburnt Country!

For the third year in succession, the OECD gong for "Happiest place to live" has gone to Australia.

Sweden and Canada claimed 2nd and 3rd spots, but lifstyle, beaches, culture and food tipped the scales in favour of the Great Southern Land. The UK just squeezed into the Top 10 in tenth place.

Hardly suprising then that Brits are queuing up to head off to the southern antipodes in the quest to find the Perfect lifestyle.

Despite some austerity measures, there are still plenty of opportunities for POMs in Australia, and Best Jobs in Oz is desperate to fill almost 30 Midwife and Nursing vacancies in places as diverse as Sydney, Darwin, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Alice Springs - as well as less general destinations such as Burnie (Tasmania) and Port Augusta (South Australia).

Sponsorship by employers of part of the Visa process can save candidates upwards of £1500 - which, whilst a far cry from the days of "Ten pound POMs" is a handy amount to have in your pocket on arrival.

So, if you're single, married, a Nurse, Midwife or Doctor, there is a welcome mat just for you in many regions of Australia, what's more THEY need YOU!

For a list of current vacancies, read our blog visit our website  or drop us a line and your CV by email, together with your preferred location.

You never know, you could be enjoying that HAPPY LIFESTYLE sooner than you think.

About Best Jobs in Oz

Anything to do with Australian jobs will appear on this blog. Whether you are living in Oz or are seeking a new life, all relevant information and links will be provided here.

The first thing you must ensure when travelling to Oz, especially on a working visa, is that you must have insurance. Many Australian jobs are not covered by workplace insurance, and you do not want to be in a position where you are laid up in an Aussie hospital with no means of paying either your medical bills, or your passage home.

If you are planning a backpacker working holiday always make sure that potential employers have the correct insurance, or arrange your own cover.

Once in Oz, the main thing is that you enjoy yourself - don't let that be ruined for the sake of a few quid.
